1. Scope

This policy explains how the Reader Mode Chrome extension and related Reader Mode services handle data.

2. Data We Handle

• Local and synced data: Preferences, highlights, saved content, and backup data are stored through Chrome storage. Data placed in Chrome Sync may be synchronized by Google according to your Chrome settings.
• Account data: If you sign in, we receive your email address and Google account identifier (Sub ID) to authenticate you and manage Pro entitlements.
• Anonymous reading count: The extension may send an integer reading-session count. Our server stores it only as a global aggregate and does not attach browsing URLs or an account identifier.
• User submissions: When you choose to send feedback or a compatibility report, we receive the submitted message, optional email address, and, where needed for that action, the current page URL or domain. When you choose to recommend an article, we receive its URL, title, article content, rating, and recommendation text; the recommendation may be displayed publicly.
• AI requests: When you invoke an AI feature, the text or article content needed for the request is sent to the selected AI provider, directly with your own API key or through Reader Mode Pro. User-provided API keys are stored in Chrome storage and are not stored on our server.
• Payments: Subscription payments are processed by our Merchant of Record, such as Creem. We do not store full payment-card details.

3. How We Use Data

We use data only to provide requested features, manage accounts and subscriptions, process support requests, maintain compatibility, and measure aggregate service usage.

4. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Data is shared only with service providers needed for the feature you choose, such as Google for sign-in and Chrome Sync, AI providers for AI requests, and Creem for payments.

5. Retention and Control

You can remove locally stored data through the extension or Chrome. Account and submitted server data are retained only as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, and resolve support requests. You may request access to or deletion of server-held personal data by contacting us.

6. Security and Limited Use

Data transmitted to our services uses HTTPS. Use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
